Located within the Rawda Co-op Market in Kuwait, PICK is a 68 sqm fit-out project designed as a reinterpretation of one of the country’s most recognizable grab-and-go brands. Established in 2010, PICK is famously known for its frozen yogurt and health-focused snacks, and this branch translates that identity into a refined spatial experience.

Set within Rawda old co-op building & serving a residential neighborhood, the design responds by deliberately separating itself from its surroundings. The facade is slightly projected outward, creating the impression of a new insertion rather than a continuation of the existing building. This move allows the space to establish a clear and independent presence.

The custom GRC facade becomes the project’s defining element. Its repetitive perforated pattern forms a strong visual identity, interrupted by a central vertical void that frames a tall tree emerging through the architecture. This gesture transforms the entrance into a small urban pocket, softening the boundary between exterior and interior while introducing greenery as part of the experience. The outdoor area extends this idea. A circular seating element wraps around the tree, finished in soft lavender upholstery that is inspired by PICK’s signature purple color. Integrated steel tables support quick, informal use, while stainless steel columns and planted edges define the space and create a calm, shaded setting.

Inside, the design balances brand familiarity with clarity. Purple is used selectively to highlight structural elements and frame the menu wall, while lighter tones soften the seating. Green is introduced through the wall Japanese glazed tiles and planting, reinforcing the brand’s association with freshness. A restrained palette of wood veneer and stainless steel creates a contrast between warmth and precision. The layout is organized for efficiency within a compact footprint. A linear counter clearly defines ordering and pickup, while maintaining visual openness. Above, an open ceiling preserves the height of the space, while a suspended wood veneer canopy introduces a sense of scale and containment. Integrated lighting elements are embedded within this canopy, providing focused illumination over the service area and reinforcing the central axis of the interior.

PICK Rawda is an exercise in contrast; between old and new, softness and structure, and familiarity and reinvention. Within a limited footprint, the project establishes a distinct identity while enhancing the everyday experience of a neighborhood destination.
